Cap badge, North Irish Horse

Shown here is a cap badge of the North Irish Horse. Cap badges were a popular item for collectors and souvenir hunters. As early as August 1914 one writer noted with annoyance the "petty pilfering of our cap-badges, buttons, and numerals" by French civilians at Rouen (Lucy, There's a Devil in the Drum, p.84).
